Just got back from a week looking at cultural equity at NCCAT Cullowhee and wanted to recommend it on this space. I'm curious how many of y'all have been to NCCAT. They've got a spot in the mountains, and one in the Outer Banks. Seems to me that about half their focus is incredible professional development, and the other half is providing a rejuvenating retreat. They do both extremely well.
I've now been to two NCCAT sessions and both have been tremendous professional development. Their thoughtfully crafted curriculum leaves teachers with a plethora of resources that you can take back to your school. And they do a great job just clearing room for you to collaborate with like-minded educators. Good stuff.
They also do a tremendous job pampering teachers. The professor told a story this week about how there's a culture in Finland that reveres teachers. That makes them feel valued and respected and cherished. We don't necessarily get that in our society, but you do when you go to NCCAT. You've got the two serene locations in the mountains and beach, and you're treated to some tremendous cooking.
I realize that this post just sounds like I'm being paid by NCCAT, but I just wanted to recommend their programs.
